Compulsive drawing
I just thought I would share these two pictures I drew spur-of-the-moment a week ago and today. They're strange drawings that when I draw. I feel like I have to draw them like this to make them feel right. The first is a snake, and the second is a bird. I feel almost like they were highly regarded creatures painted this way to give them prestige of some kind.

Sorry for the low quality, I used a camera-phone to capture them.

Re: Compulsive drawing
Here are three more I have drawn since the first post. This makes (in order) a snake, a bird's head, another kind of bird with a wingspan, a lizard of some kind, and a duck or swan.

Thanks. I think I might start trying to do these more specific and complex. They're the first thing I have a really unique natural talent at

Re: Compulsive drawing
You should, Daniel. They are interesting. Though I am not knowledgeable enough to analyze them from a historic/symbolic point of view, they are to me reminiscent of totem figures. The style is very tribal.
Maybe you could try to make more elaborate compositions with these figures, in the environment you imagine for them. That could give you better clues of where you're drawing from.
Keep up the good work.

Those are really neat, Daniel09. They remind me of modern tribal tattoos.

Re: Compulsive drawing
Here's my newest work. I saw this little piece of paper and knew it had to have a tiger on it, so I drew it:

I like your drawings, Daniel. I agree with Elaina on them being unique, and with Hellen on the tiger. Tigers are such wonderful creatures...
Looking forward to seeing more.

Re: Compulsive drawing
These ones are not as good, but I happened to doodle them in this style or similar so I'll post them:
The first is what came to mind when thinking of Egypt and Aset Ka:
https://2img.net/h/i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll285/varemia/p_00167.jpg
The second, I was thinking Egyptian gods. I believe this may be Anubis, as he is the one who came to mind after drawing:

Re: Compulsive drawing
This is my first attempt at copying a work of Egyptian art. This is from a picture of Aset on a wall of Abydos:

I found the image I drew off of, here: http://www.philae.nu/philae/aretalogy.html

Re: Compulsive drawing
This one I spent an agonizing hour and a half over. I say agonizing because I feel I did a terrible job at it. I mean, it's recognizable, but it is missing that extra magic that the Egyptians instilled into their drawings. The kind that makes it so you can really "feel" the image and know what it is meant for.

Re: Compulsive drawing
Call me crazy, but I've been obsessing over the Dark Mark. It's familiar, but something seemed off, and after some tweaking I came up with something that looks closer to what feels right. For one it's upside down and a different color, but also, it's perspective is different. I find that it looks like a seal or lock, and that something else is supposed to go into that empty space to complete it.

Hmm... to be honest the first thing I notice is this is the perspective an Asetian would see their Dark mark if it was on their wrist.... probably the same color too if it was done with any sorta ink.... But I can see the resemblance to a seal or lock.... I dunno. First thing I think of is the eye of Horus if I look at it as a seal or lock... ^^;

Re: Compulsive drawing
Well the DM according to the AB faces the wearer of the Mark. So this is what other Asetians would see if at the correct angle. Maybe that is important or maybe not, I will admit looking at it in that way does feel a bit strange.
