How would you define awakening?
"Awakening" is something most of us heard about, but what does awakening mean to you? how did you experience it? is it universal for all of us? etc.
To my understanding awakening is some event in your life which made you a vampire, is that correct?
How would you define awakening? and is it essential to vampirism?

Re: How would you define awakening?
Luis Marques in ‘Asetian Bible’ wrote:The Awakening is a process that occurs after the Dark Kiss, for newborn vampires, and at some point in life for already born Asetians. It is a very complicated and confuse time for the newborn, since their internal system is passing through a lot of changes and everything will be felt in a much more intense way.
The awakening will also be felt by any Asetian, in nearly every incarnation, when he becomes aware of his condition and true nature, now understanding many factors in his current life and recent past that were not understandable before.
The reasons and motivations that will lead an existing but unaware vampire to awaken can be very diverse, but usually one of the most common is to become in contact with other Asetians. Also, interactions with Egyptian religion, mythology and architecture can help, among many other subliminal messages and symbols known to the already awakened.
The vast majority of vampires that you will come in contact with are not Asetians. Mostly, all you will find are going to be psychic vampires with a latent and unaware vampiric condition. These vampires, like the vast majority of the unawakened, don't have any notion whatsoever of what they are, what they are capable of and why they react in some ways to the environment. Most of them don't even believe in vampires at all and have no clue that there is a vast occult society out there, functional, active and pretty much alive, living in secrecy behind the veil of common society, ruling in its very own empire of shadows.
The Egyptian scarab symbolically covers the idea of evolutional phases that a soul passes through, before reaching a more evolved stage - Enlightenment so the word transmits the idea of a deep transformation, the true concept of becoming.

I must admit that "Asetian" bible or culture is a new thing to me.
Thank you for sharing, I'll research more on this.

Are you referring to the differences between the original publications and Violet Throne?

The Asetian Bible is the best starting point, followed by the Violet Throne.
