Special Snowflake Syndrome.
I came across this personality disorder recently, and have come to the conclusion that the vampire and otherkin web community is a haven and breeding ground for those who suffer from this condition. In layman's tems, the sufferer truly believes they are truly not human or are in some above or are apart from others in some special way. While I acknowledge, speaking from experience and the posts on this site, that there are individuals that have views and experiences that beyond the norm and imagination of most;the SSS sufferer is totally self-deluded;occasionally to a violent degree when challenged.
So,how to discriminate what is real and what is not?Personally,I find questioning, self honesty and self-examination does it for me.Plus, the candour and insights provided by the members of this site most helpful.Especially,as many, including myself go through the difficult process of awakening.

Thanks for the link Maxx.I also neglected to mention the value of self-awareness in my original post-ie:being fully aware at all times.Especially of what one is going through.

Re: Special Snowflake Syndrome.
It is. So many seem to think they're so special and oh so powerful. That's not real vampirism though, just disturbed people seeking attention.Lupus de Umbras wrote:I came across this personality disorder recently, and have come to the conclusion that the vampire and otherkin web community is a haven and breeding ground for those who suffer from this condition.

Re: Special Snowflake Syndrome.
Very few people want to be another "wave in the ocean of humanity". Most would rather be a tsunami or a hurricane. It makes sense to want to be more and to hold some special place in the grand order of things, but obviously the sheer number of average-sounding people on the boards cannot all be special. The very definition of unique conflicts with the concept of many being the same.
Think of it like all those hundreds and thousands of people who think their past life was Cleopatra or Caesar. It's just a desire to feel important.
I find that it is far more rewarding to go out and try to make the lives of other people better by your presence and actions, than it is to simply think you are an important person.
If just one person can have a better day, or if one person can be happy that I existed, then I feel that I've accomplished enough for a lifetime. I guess what makes a person really unique is to be able to continue doing that for their whole life without becoming bitter. Sure, we all have a little darkness inside us, but if we don't like it, then we don't have to act on it. Anyway, I've rambled.

Hello Jonathan, how would you define 'real' vampyrism?Jonathan wrote:It is. So many seem to think they're so special and oh so powerful. Re: Special Snowflake Syndrome.
Vampirism is something spiritual, not mental or physical.
What is it to you?
What is it to you?

Re: Special Snowflake Syndrome.
I use Predatory Spiritualism (the devouring of an archetypal essence) in ritual workings, to me that is what Vampyrism is.Jonathan wrote:Vampirism is something spiritual, not mental or physical.

In what way is it 'spiritual' to you and not a construct of the mind?

Re: Special Snowflake Syndrome.
It's spiritual in the sense that it's a condition of the soul.
A ritual doesn't define anyone as a vampire.

What condition would that be? How would your soul define you as a vampyre?Jonathan wrote:It's spiritual in the sense that it's a condition of the soul.

Re: Special Snowflake Syndrome.
I like so much your post Daniel09.
Eni Alihm: I doubt that Jonathan will answer you or waste more time with you. Looking at your other posts and looking here, you do not possess common sense, it seems to me that you read some books and nothing more.

I take it that you're not familiar with the Asetian tradition?Eni Alihm wrote:What condition would that be? How would your soul define you as a vampyre?Jonathan wrote:It's spiritual in the sense that it's a condition of the soul.

Exactly what does common sense have to do with any of this?
I do resent your assumptions I must say. You know nothing about me, only a fool speaks from his mouth.

A ritual doesn't define anyone as a vampire.
Do not misunderstand. There are many variants of vampire, and the use of the word is applied wherever a person or group decides it fits. If a ritual of devouring essence is what vampire is to you, then you are your own vampire, but if you're trying to see what the definition of Vampire is from the Asetian standpoint, you'll find very conflicting views.
To oversimplify the notion of Asetian Vampirism, being a Vampire is a condition of the soul being of a higher vibration/energy needing supplementation in order to function at a healthy level.
There are Vampires in this tradition that are not Asetian, having energy systems that also need supplementation, but these not a result of the condition of the soul. Some people are just born that way for no particularly defined reason.
