Re: questioning religion
During an incantation for example, it is 'you' who is bringing the effect into existence; whereas, when you pray you are asking a deity to bring about the effect.
Some of the prayers found at Deir el-Medina appealed to various gods and expressed humility and gratitude for recovery from an illness or affliction brought about by sins. This concept of confession and salvation was rare in Egypt though, but it definitely points towards the origin of Prayer in the later religions.
The ancient traditions of ritual words and sounds, mantras, chants and prayers were spiritual in that they aimed at altering, transforming, and expanding the consciousness.
Ancient traditional prayers was a process of concentrated visualization, combined with emotional and mental energizing, and then a grounding of these into the physical through proper vocalization. It should lead to achieving union of body, mind, and soul.
As for Jesus / Yeshua the Nazarene? There is no documentation that this person actually existed. But the 'idea' of the Christ / Khristós did exist and was actually a title given to spiritually awakened individuals, it meant 'annointed'.
