On the New Privacy Policy.
I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank Elendor and the administration of VF for their words and for taking the time to implement these changes. I find this a very positive change and sense that this community keeps taking turns in the right direction. I could not agree more on the value that we have created here together and how it can be a very interesting source for newer and older members of the community that seek to evolve within the Asetian path or just to learn more about their culture. Thank you Elendor and thanks everyone!Elendor wrote:There is a new privacy policy when it comes to the reading permissions in this forum.
With the new system in effect, only registered and active members can read the posts and every bit of content within this forum. It is a way to further ensure the privacy of the community and make sure that if people want to be a part of it, or read the knowledge and opinions shared by others, would have to register and be logged in to benefit from what others give them freely and selflessly in here.
It is our belief that Vampirism Forum has grown to become a valuable online reference and comprehensive compilation of a body of occult knowledge, presenting a set of vampiric information, spirituality and metaphysics, that cannot be easily found in other sources, and that can prove to be a valuable tool to any honest and mature occult student.
We hope that this measure pleases the community and shows our commitment to protect and value their contributions, opinions and wisdom.

Well, I can't say it any better than that, so I second what Jonathan said.
Let me also point out, that the post above, is your 900th post. That's awesome!

Re: On the New Privacy Policy.
I agree. The thanking is for the good. Or, in proper words (though even improper is intended):
It is a very progressive change which will help with the problems of foreign forums linking to specific posts, simply spying on our workabouts, and will hopefully spur constructive discussion in the years to come.
If I had a drink I would raise it to the longevity of this forum.

Well, this is a very wise move from Elendor.

Re: On the New Privacy Policy.
Who are we to demand privacy for ourselves and accountability from others, to be truly enlightened should we not open our hands and give. Souls come here looking for answers and now it’s denied to them, we are all on a journey, some are further along that path than others and now seek to keep what they have learnt to themselves, should wisdom not be shared freely, only a fool lives with their mouth opened and their mind closed.
Things are not always what they seem; the first appearance deceives many; the intelligence of a few perceives what has been carefully hidden

I see your point.... but truly...it is not that problematic to create an account here, or is it ?

Yeah. We're not blocking anything and are really quite open. All it takes is for a person to recognize that they exist to us and they have access to all which we have to offer.

Re: On the New Privacy Policy.
So the object of the exercise is to create more members, how is this a good thing, is this not a forum for those who sincerely seek the truth, a truth that should be given freely, creating a superfluity of members who have joined merely to see what this forum is about cannot be a better system than before, surely its not what we have that brings others to us, but what we enjoy as a community that constitutes our uniqueness. Hiding what we discuss will only encourage the time wasters and once they join they will be compelled to waste our time. Be warned.

Re: On the New Privacy Policy.
I don't think you understand, or maybe you just lack the ability to. This community has over 700 registered users as we speak, making it one of the biggest and most well developed occult forums on the net, and most likely the leading one on the subject of vampirism. Surely no one is seeking to get new members just for the sake of numbers. We are, however, entitled to our privacy, and who wants to learn with us the least they can do is introduce themselves, not just cowardly hide reading everything we are here honestly sharing as many have done so. You say the knowledge is being denied to them? That is just pathetic, as anyone can easily register in here as they always have and will certainly be welcomed.
You say wisdom should be shared freely with everyone and that knowledge should just be given and accesible to everybody. Then yes, you're probably on the wrong forum, as this deals with dark magick and spirituality, Left Hand Path traditions. If you're seeking easily and freely accesible knowledge, you would be better with the Right Hand Path traditions, where everything is open and clear in plain sight. Vampirism just isn't such a tradition, and never will be. Some, if not most, of occult knowledge is just too powerful to be openly shared as you say. It takes responsibility, maturity and evolution to deserve such knowledge. So no, it is not for everybody to have.

well.. I dont know what to say ...
Its been quite quiet here lately ....
and well ... you may be right, I could go that way ...
But then again, it can also continue as it has, the last 2 months ....
I think the general thought of the admin was, to protect the users a bit more, and was not in any way, trying to do something bad ...
Should we think of them, or us first , as an community ?
Re: On the New Privacy Policy.
Kate, allow me to disagree.
Truth is not something that should be given freely, because it is not something you can give, you can only experience it. Truth could be staring you in the face and you might never see it if your eyes are not open to it. It can be misused, misinterpreted and misleading.
Truth, when finally discovered, is also not the same for everyone. It is like a diamond with many faceted layers, catching myriads of colours in the light. Everyone sees it differentlly, and everyone interprets it differently.
But the most important thing is that Truth is dangerous for those who are not willing to go the distance it takes to understand it.

Re: On the New Privacy Policy.
Thank you for the nice post Syrianeh, you always make wise interventions.
Syrianeh brought a very important view, that Truth not only can be very dangerous for some, as it is something that many times stares you in the face and you just can't see it. And we all in here know more than one case of people who had Truth staring them deep in the eyes and they still were blind to see it and made the wrong choices to fall into ignorance, despair and sometimes even dying, although being alive... and the worse of it all is that sometimes the issue is not ignorance, that cannot be blamed, but just being plain coward. Lacking courage to face reality and to stand up for deeper things, causes and ideals is not only a dishonor, but also the reason why some failed at living. Just being alive is not living. It can even be an insult to Life. This does not please me, but saddens me deeply.

Re: On the New Privacy Policy.
Syrianeh and Jonathan, thank you for you reply but i feel i must disagree, Galileo Galilei states
“All truths are easy to understand once they are discovered; the
point is to discover them.”
So we now hide from those poor souls who do not understand what is happening to them, who trawl through these forums searching for their own truth or path, we make it harder for them to discover what they seek which surely is in opposition to the purpose of this forum, while on the other hand our hiding will make this forum more attractive to time wasters who will wonder what is being hidden and once they have joined will surely ridicule and mock at every opportunity.
However, I sincerely hope I am wrong.

Re: On the New Privacy Policy.
Vampires are the catalysts of spiritual evolution. They transform, adapt and evolve like said on Asetian Bible. This forum is about Vampirism and vampires are mirror of Chaos. Like this Forum. Change is a main word here. I agree with Jonathan. If we following statics we realize that is not a stagnant forum. At present we have posted a total of 9.364 messages and 741 users. Just a number of course, not define knowledge and wisdom but means something. A true student search, accept what they others say and do but explore with their own force and Will the purity of evolution. If they care about knowledge, evolution.. of course that they come here check what happens here. This is a law. Exploration. I feel neutral about the new policy.
Syrianeh I agree with you too. Truth is for who are ready or able to conquer it. It’s a gift of our dedication and Will. A real scenery of Evolution. The strong people win and the weak lose.

Re: On the New Privacy Policy.
Seriously, it only takes a couple of minutes to register on the site to read what is here. If someone doesn't want to make that little effort, then so be it. That is their choice and not our problem.

Re: On the New Privacy Policy.
When I was first starting out we didn't have the internet and information at our fingertips like they do now.. The only option was library's (which had nothing really useful for our kind ) or you played it by ear and searched until you met another that might take you under their wing and teach. What I am trying to say is those that are truly seeking this information will find it one way or another. Having to create a user name and password will not detour them from getting the information. And if they are too lazy to do so then they really didn't want it to begin with. I agree that those not members of the Forums should not be able to see what is written here for our sakes and theirs. ... Blessed BE
